S I N O P S I S

Film Watchmen diambil dari cerita komik karya Alan Moore dan Dave Gibbons yang hanya terdiri dari 12 seri.

Berlatar belakang di tahun 1985 ketika Richard Nixon masih menjabat presiden AS. Pemerintah AS yang semula membiarkan para superhero yang menamakan diri mereka Watchmen berlalu lalang, akhirnya memutuskan untuk membubarkannya. Semua anggota Watchmen dibebas tugaskan kecuali Edward Blake alias The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) dan Dr. Jon Osterman atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai Doctor Manhattan (Billy Crudup). Sedangkan para superhero yang lain memutuskan untuk beradaptasi menjadi masyarakat biasa. Namun Walter Kovacs atau yang lebih dikenal sebagai Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) memutuskan untuk tetap memerangi kejahatan secara sembunyi-sembunyi.

Suatu hari terjadi kasus pembunuhan terhadap salah satu mantan anggota Watchmen yang bernama The Comedian. Rorschach berkeyakinan kawannya ini telah dibunuh sebagai bagian dari rencana melenyapkan seluruh mantan anggota Watchmen yang tersisa. Rorschach pun melakukan penyelidikan dimana akhirnya membawa kepada informasi adanya konspirasi tingkat tinggi antara para Superhero dibalik kematian The Comedian. Namun tak satu pun percaya sampai Adrian Veidt atau Ozymandias menghadapi usaha pembunuhan meski ia bisa lolos dari usaha pembunuhan tersebut. Kini sisa anggota Watchmen harus mulai bersatu atau mereka akan dibantai habis seperti dugaan Rorschach.

Bagaimana kelanjutannya. Siapa dalang dari semua konspirasi ini. Dan apa yang sebenarnya terjadi???

Film ini mengisahkan perjalanan hidup Logan sebagai mutan sebelum bergabung dengan X-Men. Diawali dengan cerita masa kecil Logan "Wolverine" (Hugh Jackman) dan saudaranya Victor Creed “Sabretooth” (Liev Schreiber) . Pertemuannya dengan William Stryker (Danny Huston) pimpinan proyek Weapon-X akhirnya membuat kedua bersaudara ini saling bermusuhan.

Setelah kekasihnya dibunuh oleh Victor, Logan pun menuntut balas dan terjadilah pertarungan antara Logan dan Victor di mana pertarungan tersebut dimenangkan oleh Victor dengan menghancurkan cakar tulang yang dimiliki Logan.

Kemudian Logan menerima tawaran Jenderal Stryker untuk menjadikan dirinya sebagai bahan percibaan dengan memasukkan bahan yang sangat keras ke dalam tubuhnya. Percobaanpun berhasil, cakar Logan yang semula berupa tulang biasa menjadi logam yang keras dan tajam.
